Saskatchewan residents will soon have access to legitimate internet gaming and sports betting.
In a news statement issued on Friday, the Saskatchewan Indian Gambling Authority stated that PlayNow.com, the province's first and only licensed online gaming provider, will go live on November 3.
In accordance with an operational agreement with SaskGaming, SIGA, the official operator of PlayNow.com in Saskatchewan, named the British Columbia Lottery Corporation as its winning vendor in June.
According to Bookie Intelligence sources, the only gambling website in North America and one of the few in the world to offer dedicated player health specialists known as GameSense Advisors is BCLC's PlayNow.com platform, which is also the only regulated gambling website offered in both the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Manitoba.
The announcement comes just in time since Regina, the capital of the provincial province that is home to around 1.2 million Canadians, will play host to the Grey Cup championship game this year on November 20.
The Gaming Framework Agreement, which was first signed in 1995, was amended on September 23, 2021, according to an announcement made by the Saskatchewan government and the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN). This modification created the legal framework for the digital gaming enterprise that will be run by SIGA.
SIGA is the only First Nations operator in Canada to have an online gaming agreement with any level of government. FSIN, which represents 74 First Nations in Saskatchewan, and the province formed a 50/50 revenue-sharing arrangement.
